Wadebridge & Surrounding Area

Wadebridge is steeped in history, once a thriving market town famous for its wool trade.

Brookdale House is situated on the corner of Trevanion Road and Brook Road, only a few minutes’ walk from the town centre where you can wander around and explore unique shops and dine at the many restaurants, cafes, and pubs. Enjoy a walk through the park, play a game of tennis or bowls, walk, or cycle the Camel Trail to the historic town of Bodmin, or to the famous fishing village of Padstow as well as the Camel Valley Vineyard.

The Camel Trail is a tremendous attraction running through the town as it meanders for 18 miles along the riverbank on the old railway line site from Bodmin Moor to Padstow. The trail attracts walkers, runners, cyclists, and birdwatchers who come to soak up the changing views from rugged moorland through green valleys, onto the beautiful Camel Estuary with its golden sandy beaches. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and delight for visitors.

There are many lovely pubs and restaurants in the area. As well as gastro pubs and restaurants from Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth in Padstow to Nathen Outlaw’s restaurant at Port Issac, the choice is yours.

Why not take in a film at The Regal an iconic cinema situated on the Platt which opened its doors in 1931. The present owners took it over on the 30th of January 1967, which coincidentally was the day of the closure of the Wadebridge to Padstow railway line because of the Beeching axe. It was a single screen cinema until May 1986 when it reopened as a twin cinema. In 2015 it was the first screen in Cornwall with SONY 4K technology. 2016 Screen Two upgraded to SONY R510 projector, along with SONY 3D system with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. Screen one has Dolby Digital 7.1 sound. 2013 saw the Regal commence live satellite transmission of theatrical shows, concerts, operas, and ballet. In 1998 it hosted the British premiere of ‘Amy Foster’ and in May 2000 ‘Saving Grace’ both were filmed in North Cornwall by Major Hollywood studios. The Regal (WTW) has been under the same ownership now for 54 years. 2021 The Regal celebrates its 90th Anniversary.
